Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives arrest suspect for alleged involvement in early morning homicide.
Today, IMPD homicide detectives arrested 26-year-old Gaylyn Morris for the murder of 26-year-old Andre Smith.
On Friday June 03, 2022, at approximately 12:30 am officers of the IMPD were dispatched to 3948 E 82nd street on a report of an accident in the parking lot of this location. Officers arrived and located Mr. Smith laying on the ground underneath a vehicle, it appeared he was struck by the vehicle. Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) Engine Company 6 responded and unfortunately pronounced the Mr. Smith deceased at the scene.
26-year-old Gaylyn Morris was still on scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody without further incident.
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Preliminary information leads investigators to believe this incident involved a domestic dispute. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner's Office (MCCO) assisted and determined the cause and manner of death reportedly to be intentionally being struck by a vehicle.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Officer (MCPO) will make the final charging decision.
