Ride for the BLUE Motorcycle Event
This Saturday, June 4, 2022, the City of Simi Valley will be hosting the second annual “Ride for the BLUE” event. The “Ride for the BLUE” is a 115-mile motorcycle ride in honor of Ventura County Sheriff Sergeant Ron Helus who tragically lost his life in the line of duty while responding to the Borderline shooting. Additionally, it is to honor all first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending their communities. Proceeds raised from this event benefit the “911 At Ease International” foundation which provides confidential counseling and therapy to first responders and their families. Additional information about this event can be found at www.ridefortheblue.com
Over 300 motorcycles are expected at this event. The kick off location for the event is the City of Simi Valley City Hall. This event will take riders 115 miles through the County of Ventura ending in the City of Fillmore. Riders will be leaving the Simi Valley City Hall promptly at 8:00 a.m. They will travel southbound on Tapo Canyon Rd. to the westbound 118 freeway. They will exit the freeway at Madera Rd, traveling south on Madera Rd to the East Valley Ventura County Sheriff’s Station.
Understandably, 300 motorcycles on a city street can cause brief road congestion. The Simi Valley Police Department has taken steps to expedite the group through the city as to lessen the impact on our community drivers. With that said, we are asking for your understanding on the morning of the event should you encounter a slight delay. For questions regarding the event, please refer to the website for contact information. For traffic questions regarding this event, please contact Commander James Buckley at (805) 583-6960.
