For the seventh consecutive week, CDC’s map of level of community spread has Albany County at a “high” level of COVID-19 spread. At this level, the CDC recommends that residents wear facemasks in public indoor spaces. County DOH is also “strongly recommending that face masks be worn in public places and private businesses.” The Town continues to recommend that all persons wear facemasks in public settings at indoor Town facilities.
For some good news, 25 counties, including large swaths of upstate, are now at “low” levels after weeks at “high” levels. That is an increase from nine counties last week. New York City moved from “high” to “medium.” As of yesterday, the nation has 241 (7.48%) counties at a “high” community level. The number of counties with a “medium” community level has reached 736 (22.83%), with 2,247 counties (69.7%) at a “low” community level.
For the month of May, the Town’s EMS ambulances made seven transports of residents with COVID-19 symptoms to area hospitals, including four from residences, two from nursing homes, and one from a physician’s office. In April, there were five transports, and three in March and February. The total COVID-19 pandemic transports by EMS ambulances to area hospitals is now at 335 residents.
I hope that you have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.
