INCIDENT DETAILS:
On June 03, 2022 at approximately 2243 hours, Officers from the Pomona Police Department Sexual Exploitation & Trafficking Team (SETT) were conducting surveillance in the area of Holt Av and Clark St in Pomona.  There were several females in the area whose actions were consistent with sex workers.  Officers noticed a vehicle parked nearby occupied by a lone male who appeared to be watching the females.

Officers contacted the male who was found to be in possession of a large amount of US currency and personal property belonging to the females consistent with the behavior of an exploiter.  During the investigation the male was identified as the exploiter of at least one of the nearby females and he was arrested for violation of California Penal Code section 653.23 - supervision of a prostitute.

The male initially provided a false name to police, however he was positively identified during the booking process.  It was later discovered he had several outstanding arrest warrants out of the State of Washington for both 187 PC – Homicide as well as being an escapee.  This investigation is still ongoing and Pomona Police investigators are working with law enforcement in Washington State.

The Pomona Police Department takes a proactive approach to combating human trafficking and utilizes the assistance of other agencies to provide a victim-centered approach.  The Pomona Police Department Sexual Exploitation & Trafficking Team (SETT) conducts enforcement and investigates cases of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
