Deputies Locate Large Stash of Stolen Merchandise After Report of Delivery Driver Theft
DATE/TIME: Friday, June 3, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m.
INCIDENT: Grand Theft and Possession of Stolen Property
LOCATION: 9700 Block of Calabash Ave, County area of Fontana.
SUSPECT(S): Juan Cardenas (61yo) and Norma Acuna (61yo), residents of San Bernardino.
VICTIM(S): OnTrac
SUMMARY: On Friday, June 3, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Fontana Station were dispatched to the 9700 block of Calabash Avenue, in the county area of Fontana, in reference to a report of theft.
Upon arrival, deputies contacted suspect Juan Cardenas. Cardenas was employed as a delivery driver and suspected of stealing packages from his employer. During the investigation and based on the evidence collected, deputies discovered Cardenas had stolen several packages. During a check of Cardenas' residence, deputies located several thousand dollars in stolen merchandise. The merchandise was unopened, and some still in the shipping boxes with the customer's address affixed to them. Deputies inventoried the stolen property and returned it to the shipping company.
Cardenas was booked into West Valley Detention Center for grand theft. Norma Acuna was determined to be an accomplice in the crimes. Her case report will be sent to the District Attorney's Office for filing.
