FDA’s Advisory Committee is meeting tomorrow to discuss authorizing a COVID-19 vaccine by Novavax, a potential fourth vaccine option. For most people, who have received a Pfizer or a Moderna vaccine, this additional vaccine option might not generate much interest. For some people, however, the existing messenger RNA vaccines contain an ingredient that can cause a severe allergic reaction that is not present with the Novavax vaccine. The Novavax vaccine is also reportedly stable for longer periods at refrigerator temperatures and may not cause the same side effects that can be caused by messenger RNA vaccines.
