BURGLARY IN PROGRESS CALL NETS STOLEN GOODS AND A FELON OUT ON BOND

June 3, 2022, the Lake Lure Police Department received a call for service to investigate a Burglary that had occurred at a home off of Harris Road in Lake Lure.  That investigation led to video from the homeowner of the perpetrator and the vehicle used in the Burglary.

Just a few days later, the owner of the home called the Police Department to report a Burglary in Progress and stated the individual he was watching on his camera system was the same person that was on the video previously.

Chief Humphries, who took the call, immediately attempted to call for the two LLPD units that were working in the area, however due to heavy radio traffic, the Chief knew he could get there quicker than the process of dispatching the call.

In route, the Chief was able to get the call out of a Burglary in Progress.  Corporal Collins and Sergeant Umphlett immediately went in route to the location to meet Chief Humphries.

In the meantime, Chief Humphries arrived at the address on Harris Road.  Moments later Corporal Aaron Collins arrived on the scene.  Chief Humphries and Corporal Collins detained the suspect, while conducting a brief investigation to confirm that this was the same individual who had broken in a few days earlier.

Officers located many items in the bed of the truck she driving.  She agreed to talk to the original investigating officer, Officer Dills.  Ms. Michelle Wilson, of Lawing Mill Road in Rutherfordton, admitted to Officer Dills of stealing three of the items that were in the bed of the truck.

Ms. Michelle Wilson was booked into the Rutherford County Detention Center on two Larceny charges as well as Simple possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Additionally, it was discovered that Ms. Wilson was out on a $177,000 bond for Possession of Methamphetamine, Drug Paraphernalia, Breaking and Entering, Possession of Stolen goods, Larceny of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, just to name a few of the charges.
