On June 7th, 2022, at approximately 4:31 a.m., the Cloquet Police Department responded to a residence on Boulder Drive in Cloquet on a report of a burglary of an occupied dwelling.
The residents awoke to an intruder that entered their residence and physically assaulted one of them.
As another person inside the home intervened, the assailant fled the area on foot.
With the assistance of neighboring agencies and the Minnesota State Patrol, officers searched the surrounding area extensively, but they were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
The burglar/assailant was described as a white male, approximately 6'2", slender build, beard, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The individual appeared unkempt and dirty.
The suspect is not known to the victim.
We do not know if this was a targeted or random incident or if the suspect mistargeted the home or victim(s).
CPD continues to conduct extra patrols in communities during our discretionary time. Community members are advised to keep their homes and vehicles secured and call 911 if they see anyone or anything suspicious in their neighborhoods.
This incident is an open and active investigation as investigators are following leads. No other information is available at this time.
