Toys destined for underprivileged children stolen from city storage container

On June 06, 2022 at about 2 PM, Officers from the Pomona Police Department discovered a City storage container had been broken into sometime over the weekend. The storage container was being utilized to store toys for the annual “Santa Cop” toy drive. The stolen toys had been donated by community partners or purchased with funds donated to the Pomona Police Department Community Programs Unit.

Taken during the burglary include several bicycles, Disney toys, Lego sets and Supreme bags. In all, the total estimated value of the stolen toys is in excess of $7,000.00.

The Pomona Police Department Community Services Unit works year-round soliciting donations and fundraising to provide Christmas joy to families that would otherwise go without during the holiday season.
In 2021, over 200 families were provided toys and supermarket gift-cards through the Santa Cop Program. The Santa Cop program is funded entirely through donations and fundraising, and staffed with volunteer officers and professional staff from the Pomona Police Department.
