Man charged in Maple Shade for an Armed Burglary

Chief Christopher Fletcher announces that charges have been filed in an armed burglary that occurred Monday May 30, 2022 on Monroe Path.
Benjamin DeGraffinried, 31, of Yardley, Pennsylvania is charged with Burglary, Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Mischief.
On May 30, 2022 Maple Shade Police were dispatched to Monroe Path for the report of an in progress theft. The caller who was the resident of the apartment was not in the apartment at the time but was viewing real time video, stated that a male was removing the camera from her front door. Upon arrival patrol units found the apartment door damaged and open. Video from a neighbor’s camera showed DeGraffinried kick open the apartment door and draw a handgun before entering the apartment.
Investigation by the Patrol and Detective divisions led to the identity of the vehicle DeGraffinried was operating and his identity. Morrisville Police Department in Pennsylvania arrested DeGraffinried on unrelated charges on May 31st. At the time of the arrest DeGraffiniried was operating the same vehicle that he was operating in Maple Shade and wearing the same clothing he was wearing while committing the burglary.
A search of the vehicle conducted by the Maple Shade Police Department Detective Bureau resulted in the recovery of a 9mm semi-automatic handgun with a fully loaded magazine.
DeGraffiniried is currently being held at the Bucks County Jail in Doylestown, Pennsylvania awaiting extradition back to New Jersey.
