HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 100 T0 105 EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY EVENING... Hot temperatures will combine with relatively high humidity levels to produce heat index values of 100 to 105 between 100 PM and 700 PM today across the Piedmont and foothills of the Carolinas and northeast Georgia. If spending time outdoors, try to limit strenuous activities and wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing. If working outdoors is necessary, stay hydrated, and take breaks in the shade as often as possible. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
