The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Washington County in north central Maryland... Northern Jefferson County in the Panhandle of West Virginia... Northeastern Morgan County in the Panhandle of West Virginia... Berkeley County in the Panhandle of West Virginia...

* Until 445 AM EDT.

* At 401 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Big Cove Tannery to 8 miles west of Wilson-Conococheague to Martinsburg to near Inwood, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

* Locations impacted include... Hagerstown, Martinsburg, Shepherdstown, Hancock, Municipal Stadium, Robinwood, Fountainhead-Orchard Hills, Ranson, Boonsboro, Smithsburg, Inwood, Paramount-Long Meadow, Wilson-Conococheague, Williamsport, Mount Aetna, Mount Lena, San Mar, Long Meadow, Kearneysville and Saint James.

* AFFECTED AREAS: WASHINGTON, MD ... BERKELEY, WV ... JEFFERSON, WV ... MORGAN, WV

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
