SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Fatal Car Crash
DATE AND TIME: Approximately 11:34 A.M. on Monday, June 13, 2022.
LOCATION: Crystal Road at Lake Montcalm Road, Richland Township

Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a one-car crash on Crystal Road at Lake Montcalm Road in Richland Township at approximately 11:34 A.M. on Monday, June 13, 2022.
Deputies arrived and found a 2015 Jeep Cherokee having struck a tree head-on. The investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, a 51-year-old Edmore man, was travelling southbound on Crystal Road and failed to negotiate the curve at Lake Montcalm Road. The Jeep continued south leaving the road to the left and struck a large tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is believed that speed was not a factor in the crash. There were no indications the driver was under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances but he was not wearing his seatbelt.
Assisting with the crash were Montcalm County Central Dispatch, Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services, and Richland Township Fire Department.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
