Athens Fire and Rescue responded to a brush fire call at noon today on the east side of Lindsay Lane and north side of Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road. Athens Fire has called in firefighters that were off today to help fight the brush fire and man the stations in case of other emergency calls. The total acreage impacted is not available at this time. Athens Fire appreciates East Limestone, Piney Chapel and Owens volunteer fire departments and Huntsville Fire and Forestry Commission for responding to help. Our firefighters are rotating out in order to avoid overheating especially with the current temperature.
