4:00pm Storm Recovery Update - 6/14/22

For Immediate Release

Topic: MG&E Update, Debris Clean-Up, Severe Weather Potential Wednesday

Date: 4:00 pm, June 14, 2022

From: Kristopher Loy, Fire Chief/Public Safety Director

Description: Madison Gas & Electric (MG&E), along with Aliant Energy, are still working to restore power to customers in the Village of Maple Bluff. We understand the need to know what is happening in the neighborhood, however, DO NOT CROSS BARACADED AREAS, OR YELLOW/RED CAUTION TAPE LINES. Those areas are cordoned off for your safety and the safety of the crews working. Power has been restored to many residents, but not all. Power outage updates can be found on the MG&E website:

https://www.mge.com/safety-outages/power-outages/outage-map

Our Department of Public Works would like to remind residents that contractors working on private property should haul away debris and not place those items at the curb. Trees and shrubbery located in parks and the public right of way will be cleared by our DPW, however, this may take several days.

The National Weather Service has issued severe weather advisories for Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Residents can expect a heat index of 100 degrees during the day and the threat of severe thunderstorms in the evening. Please be aware of rapidly changing conditions throughout the day tomorrow.

The Village Center Gymnasium (18 Oxford Place, Madison, WI 53704) will be open today and tomorrow to be used as a cooling center from 8:00am until 9:00pm. If you are concerned about a particular Village resident and are unable to check on them, please call the Village Center 608-244-3048 to request assistance.

Barring any significant Updates, we anticipate this will be last update for today.
