NWS La Crosse WI - Widespread severe storms likely this afternoon. Storms will quickly become severe with damaging winds, strong tornadoes, and very large hail as the primary threats. When storms approach, find shelter indoors and having multiple ways to receive warnings!  Monitor the forecast this afternoon and have TWO ways to receive warnings...especially if you have outdoor plans!

  • Where: Entire area, however Wisconsin will see greater coverage of severe storms.
  • Timing: 2-7 pm. Storms form just west of the Mississippi river and move/build east/northeast into Wisconsin.
  • Impacts: Strong tornadoes possible. Damage from hail to property and homes. Winds could lead to tree damage, downed power lines and power outages. Localized flooding possible with rises on some rivers and streams.
  • ACTION: Stay weather aware! If a tornado warning is issued for your area, go to the basement or the most interior room without windows (or closet). Take shelter when storms approach. If flooding is observed, move to higher ground.
