INCIDENT: PC 207 - Kidnapping, PC 245(a)(1) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: Walmart - Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): David Sorattanasoun, 38-year old resident of Twentynine Palms

SUMMARY: On June 14, 2022, at 5:56 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin station were dispatched to the Walmart store, in Yucca Valley, regarding a kidnapping that occurred inside the store. The male and female victims were shopping together when the suspect, David Sorattanasoun, approached them inside the store. The female victim and Sorattansoun were involved in an on again, off again relationship. Sorattanasoun assaulted the male victim, knocking him unconscious, and forced the female victim to leave the store with him.
Witnesses observed Sorattanasoun pull the female victim into a silver four door sedan in the Walmart parking lot and then drive out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was later located by deputies, parked at a residence in Twentynine Palms. Detectives from the Morongo Basin station obtained an arrest warrant for Sorattanasoun and Sheriff's Specialized Enforcement Division (S.E.D.) was notified of the incident. S.E.D. responded to the residence and took Sorattansoun into custody without incident. The victim was found at the residence and was uninjured. Sorattanasoun was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for P.C. 207 Kidnapping and P.C. 245(a)(1) Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
