 On 06-14-22 at 9:30 p.m., the Janesville Police Department (JPD) Street Crimes Unit (SCU) served a search warrant at 3616 LaMancha Dr.  The search warrant was a part of an ongoing investigation into illegal drug activity at the residence.  During the search of the residence officers seized a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl and marijuana.  JPD SCU arrested David Steptoe for several drug charges.
 
On 10-01-21 JPD SCU, with assistance from the Beloit Police Department Violent Crimes Unit arrested David Steptoe for Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine and Heroin.  After the arrest David was interviewed by JPD and Rock County Sheriff’s Office Detectives regarding 3 drug overdose death investigations.  David was suspected of delivering the drug to the victims in those incidents that caused the overdose.  After the interviews, David was arrested for one of the overdose deaths and charged with 1^st Degree Reckless Homicide.  David was held at the Rock County Jail on those charges. On 10-05-21 David was given a total of $25,000 cash bond for those charges. On 10-08-21, David posted the cash bond to be released from jail.  Upon release David had several bond restrictions he needed to follow, which included a curfew and not to consume or possess a controlled substance without a valid prescription.
 
On 06-14-22 SCU witnessed David violating his bond restrictions and arrested him for Felony Bail Jumping and Possession of THC.  As a result of the arrest, SCU wrote the search warrant for 3616 LaMancha.  David is currently being held at the Rock County Jail awaiting his initial court appearance.  The investigation into the residence will continue as there are pending charges against others associated to the residence.
