The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito June 10th to June 13, 2022.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
June 10th
Residential Burglary – 2200 block of Scenic Ave.
Sometime during the last month, an unknown suspect shattered a bathroom window and entered the residence. Once inside, the suspect stole property.
Auto Burglary – Parking lot of 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately 4 pm, an unknown suspect shattered the window of the victim’s car and stole several hundred dollars in cash.
Vandalism, Mental Health Evaluation – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 5:30 pm, store security attempted to detain a verbally abusive subject. The subject, a 20-year-old Richmond woman threw a large rock at a customer’s car, leaving a significant dent. Security detained the woman in handcuffs and called police. Upon arrival it was apparent that the woman was experiencing a mental health crisis. She was sent for a psychiatric evaluation at the Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center.
Vandalism – Baskin Robbins, 10598 San Pablo Ave
At 7pm, an officer reports that an unknown suspect shot a BB projectile into the front window of the business causing it to crack.
June 11th
Traffic collision with injuries – San Pablo Ave. / Potrero Ave.
Officers responded to a collision involving a large truck and a sedan at the intersection. Upon arrival, officers learned that the driver of a tow truck (with a vehicle on the flatbed) traveled westbound on Potrero Ave. from Arlington Blvd. The heavy braking caused the truck to lose air compression and the emergency brakes engaged.
The truck struck a small SUV before striking the center median and careening diagonally across San Pablo Ave. The truck then struck a large rock abutment and launched into the parking lot of 11299 San Pablo Ave. The driver of the SUV, the driver of the truck, and a passenger in the tow truck were all transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
June 12th
June 13th
Trespassing – 1700 block of Lexington Ave.
An unknown suspect forced entry into a vacant apartment and took up residency. The suspect fled after being discovered by apartment managers.
Vehicle Theft – 6500 block of Portola Dr.
On 6/10/22 at 1 am, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 2004 Toyota Echo.
Grand Theft from vehicle – 1700 block of Ganges Ave.
Between 6/11/22 at 4 pm and 6/13/22 at 2 pm, an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle.
