DUI Driver who was arrested Saturday found with illegals firearms

On Saturday, June 11th, 2022, Suspect Evan Weise was arrested for Felony DUI after striking a pedestrian and several vehicles on Kentucky Street.  He was also arrested for Felony Hit and Run assault on a police officer and assaulting an employee of a Downtown restaurant.  On Wednesday, June 15, Petaluma PD Detectives conducted further follow-up on the investigation.  Detectives served a search warrant at Weise’s residence on 7th Street in Petaluma.  Detectives seized an unserialized AR15 assault rifle with a 200 round drum magazine, a 12-gauge shotgun, several other high-capacity magazines, ammunition, and a sword.  The search warrant also allowed the Detectives to search Weise’s vehicle, where they found a concealed handgun.  Theses new charges will be filed in addition to the original charges Suspect Weise was arrested for.  This incident is another tragic example of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  The Police Department thanks those community members who reported and helped assist our officers with the investigation last Saturday night.
Petaluma Police advise motorist to plan ahead if you’re going to go out and drink alcohol.  Drivers can designate a sober driver or share a ride.  Drivers using certain prescription medications or narcotics should avoid driving.  Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
