Moraga Police pursue vehicle involved in a carjacking.
Today, at approximately 3:55 p.m., officers observed a vehicle that was wanted in connection with an armed carjacking in another jurisdiction being driven on Moraga Road into Moraga. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to yield to the officers. Officers pursued the vehicle and as it was passing by Campolindo High School, one of the occupants threw a gun out of the car (the gun has been recovered). The pursuit continued until the suspects stopped at the intersection of Camino Pablo and Shuey and three suspects ran from the car.
Officers, joined by officers from Orinda, Lafayette and East Bay Regional Parks Police Departments and the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff, searched the area for the suspects. Additionally, helicopters from the Alameda County Sheriffs Department and East Bay Regional Parks Police assisted in the search. Two of the three suspects were detained by officers in the area. A third suspect, described as a black male, 15-20 years old, thin build, wearing a grey hoodie remains outstanding. Officers are continuing to check the area.
