On Monday, June 20, 2022, at approximately 5:33AM, Corcoran Police Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Whitley Avenue regarding a structure fire. Upon arrival Officers located a single-family residence that was fully engulfed with flames. Neighboring residences were evacuated as a safety measure due to the nature of the scene. Kings County Fire personnel along with California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Fire responded and attended to the fire. Once the residence was deemed safe Officers located a deceased subject inside of the residence. Kings County Arson Investigators responded to further investigate the cause and origin of the fire. At this time the identification of the subject located on scene has not been confirmed. Although there is currently no indication of foul play, this is an ongoing investigation and anyone who may have information is encouraged to contact Officer Salas at (559)992-5151.
