The State’s COVID-19 website reported that yesterday’s results for 91,382 tests Statewide were 4,211 or 3.9% positive, with the seven-day average decreasing to 4.9%.  The Capital Region had 1,913 tests of which 157 or 9.1% were positive, with the seven-day average remaining at 6.2%.  The County had 499 tests of which 38 or 7.7% were positive, with the seven-day average remaining at 6.6%.

In a press release today, Governor Kathy Hochul stated that the State’s positive rate for COVID-19 tests was 3.86%.  Other overnight data including COVID-19 related hospitalizations (1,810, -32), new admissions (324), ICU patients (206, -5), intubated patients (86, +15), and deaths (17).

I am very pleased to report that the McKownville-Country Club Highlands Historic District is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the US National Park Service.  The historic district is a large part of the McKownville hamlet and includes the north side of Western Avenue between Fuller Road and Waverly Place, and properties along Western Avenue, Waverly Place and portions of Norwood, Glenwood, Parkwood and Elmwood Streets.  The district includes 94 houses built between 1910 and 1952.

I congratulate residents who diligently work to achieve this remarkable recognition, which started with a designation as a State Historic District by NYS Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.  The multiple yearlong project included detailed supportive research, historic documentation, maps, and photographs provided by residents and the McKownville Improvement Association and State Preservation Office experts.

A brief reminder that Guilderland Hannaford has selected the Guilderland Historical Society for its Bags for My Cause program under which the Historic Society will receive $1 for each purchase of a reusable “Hannaford Helps” bag in June.  Please consider acquiring a reusable bag that helps both the environment and supports a worthy local cause.

Thank you for staying safe and calm.
