Jayden Hill, 17, wanted in Saturday's Celebration Park shooting in custody. Female Juvenile detained
At approximately 4:45 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a shooting at Lowcountry Celebration Park on Hilton Head Island.
When deputies arrived, they learned a man had been shot by a male subject, who was part of a group of five.
A short time later, deputies saw three of the subjects — all male — running toward a nearby restaurant.
The three were located by deputies and two handguns were found in their belongings.
Two of the subjects — both juvenile — were detained for breaking into a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a handgun. They were transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, South Carolina.
The third subject — an adult — was not charged in the incident.
Two members of the group of five — a male and a female — were not immediately identified or located.
The wounded man was transported to the Hilton Head Hospital, where he was treated and released.
According to witnesses, prior to the shooting, the man who was wounded confronted the subjects after his vehicle was broken into.
Witnesses advised a physical altercation ensued, at which time one of the subjects shot the man.
On Monday, June 20, a handgun was found at Lowcountry Celebration Park.
Sheriff’s Office investigators responded and collected it.
The handgun will be subjected to forensic analysis to determine if it was used in the shooting.
In the days that followed, investigators learned the identities of the male and female subjects, who fled the scene.
Investigators obtained a warrant for the male subject, identified as 17-year-old Jayden Hill of Hilton Head, for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
This afternoon, June 22, investigators located Hill and the female juvenile at a residence on Bellhaven Way, Hilton Head.
The female was immediately detained. Hill temporarily evaded capture by climbing onto the roof of the residence.
After a few hours, Hill climbed back into the residence through a window and was arrested.
Hill was interviewed and will be transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where he will be incarcerated.
The female juvenile will be transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice and detained for attempted murder and unlawful possession of a handgun.
As of this time, all parties involved in Saturday’s shooting have been identified and located.
