Concerned Community Member Leads to Arrest of Armed Felon

A report by a concerned community member resulted in the arrest of an armed felon and removed two illegally possessed firearms from the streets of San Mateo.

San Mateo, CA – On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at approximately 10:21 a.m., San Mateo Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of Sycamore Avenue and Crescent Avenue on the report of a driver possibly passed out in his vehicle. At the scene, SMPD officers located a conscious male, identified as Hunter Parker, and learned Parker was on probation with search terms. Officers requested Parker exit the vehicle; he complied. Officers searched Parker’s person and located a small bag of methamphetamine and a glass pipe with burnt residue.

Officers searched Parker’s vehicle and located various items, including, an unserialized Sig Sauer P320, ammunition, fireworks, 19 pipes, a scale, bags containing psilocybin mushrooms, bags containing various suspected narcotics (methamphetamine, fentanyl, and LSD), individual bags containing marijuana edibles, lock picks, and shaved keys. SMPD officers safely arrested Parker. Parker was booked in San Mateo County Jail for possession of methamphetamine for sale, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of fireworks without a permit, possession of drug paraphernalia, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of burglary tools, owning a firearm without a serial number, possession of marijuana for sale, and possession of a controlled substance while armed.

Officers continued the investigation and performed a probation search of Parker’s residence. During that search, officers located an unserialized Glock firearm, ammunition, fireworks, suspected gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), and firearm manufacturing equipment.

Remember “If you see something, say something.” We’re encouraging our community to utilize security cameras.  They are especially helpful identifying suspicious activity in neighborhoods when cameras are street facing. Our officers regularly canvass for surveillance and you can help by notifying SMPD where cameras are located in your neighborhood at http://www.cityofsanmateo.org/Nest
