Operation Dry Water to Take Place Over July 4th Weekend

SUMMARY: Over the July 4th holiday weekend, law enforcement officers and agencies across the United States will be on the water educating boaters on safe boating practices as part of the annual Operation Dry Water weekend, July 2 – 4, 2022. Operation Dry Water (ODW) is a national awareness and enforcement campaign focused on reducing the number of alcohol and drug related incidents and fatalities on the water. Deputies will also be on heightened alert looking for those in violation of boating under the influence laws. The month of July sees the highest total number of recreational boating incidents nationally.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Marine Enforcement Unit would like to remind boaters to boat safe and boat sober. The Marine Enforcement unit also encourages all persons to wear personal floatation devices while on the waterways as it is a proven fact personal floatation devices save lives.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is dedicated to providing a safe boating atmosphere for the public and urges everyone to boat sober and wear their life jackets.
