SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Fatal drowning
DATE AND TIME: Approximately 1855 hrs on Saturday, June 25, 2022
LOCATION: Crystal Lake, Crystal Township, Montcalm County
AUTHORITY/CONTACT PERSON: Sheriff Mike Williams
Montcalm County Deputies responded to Crystal Lake for a report of a male that had been in the water, with friends, off a boat approximately one hundred yards from the shore on a sand bar. The man was unable to be found. Upon arrival, Deputies began to search the area.
The Sheriff’s Dive Team recovered the body of a 22 year old Saginaw man in approximately 8 feet of water. DAITON DEION VINSON-SHARP was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:11pm. The incident remains under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Michigan State Police, Montcalm County EMS, Crystal Township Fire Department, and Montcalm County Central Dispatch.
