Advisory

Water Project at Corner of Cody Pass and Oregon

On Tuesday, June 28, Wyoming Public/Water Works will be performing a water valve replacement project at the corner of Cody Pass and Oregon Trail.  This will require a water outage for all homes on Oregon Trail plus homes on Laramie between Oregon Trail and Morts Pass plus homes on Cody Pass from Abilene to Oregon Trail from approximately 9 am - 2 pm.

Residents in the area may want to set aside a gallon or two of water to have on hand.  Remember, in the event of a water outage, each toilet will only flush one time.

After the initial time estimate, Wyoming Water Works typically will not issue a “Water back in service” notice.  We ask that residents check their service occasionally during the outage and, when water is restored, flush your internal plumbing as suggested below.  This complements Wyoming’s routine water main flushing for clarity and testing following all water outages:

Water outages may cause disruptions in water quality including air, and/or discolored water.  Therefore, Wyoming Water Works recommends that property owners in the water shutdown area also flush their internal plumbing fixtures.  We recommend that you flush your service line from an outside faucet first until it clears up.  Then, proceed to flush all inside faucets or fixtures.  This entire procedure should take no more than 5-10 minutes, depending on the number of fixtures.  We also recommend refraining from washing laundry within 24 hours of the repair.
