Amarillo Police Violent Crimes and Juvenile Investigations squads obtained 2 warrants in this case for Aggravated Assault with Deadly weapon. Montreveous Pierson, male, birthday 09/14/2004, was arrested on this charge and booked into the Potter County Detention Center. A juvenile male, age 16, was also arrested on this charge and booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains. Detectives from both units are still investigating.
****Original Release****
At approximately 12:23AM, Officers were dispatched to the area of SW 53/Oregon, on multiple shots fired. The officers were then directed to the apartments at 5700 Canyon drive where the shots had come from. At the same time, 2 people were taken to an area hospital with life threatening injuries, from this same incident. Officers located a large party at the apartments on Canyon Drive. Officers tried to call out the subjects with a PA, and this was unsuccessful initially. The Amarillo PD CIRT team was called out and responded. As Swat, Negotiators, and the bomb team were arriving, subjects began exiting the apartment. Once the apartment was empty, witnesses were identified, and Violent Crimes Detectives began interviewing people to attempt to identify the suspects. Several weapons were in the apartment where the party had occurred. This investigation is still ongoing.
