The Franklin Township Police Department is seeking to hire a crossing guard for the Borough of Buena. This position will start in September of 2022 at the J.P. Cleary Elementary School.

Interested applicants will be required to perform duties during school arrival and school dismissal. Work hours will be approximately 10‐12 hours per week with a salary of $13‐$14 an hour.

Qualifications:

• Candidates must be a resident of New Jersey
   
• Candidates should be of good health and sound body, of good moral character and not have been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
   
• The candidate should be in good physical condition, including sight, hearing and ability to move and maneuver.
   
• The candidate should be able to control a STOP paddle effectively to provide approaching road users with clear, fully direct view of the paddles STOP message during the entire crossing movement.
   
• Candidates should have the ability to communicate specific instructions clearly, firmly, and courteously.
   
• Candidates should also have the ability to recognize potentially dangerous traffic situations and warn and manage students in sufficient time to avoid injury.
