UPDATE: Driver of Car Involved in Fatal Crash with Bicycle Found to be Under the Influence at the Time of Collision

DATE/TIME: June 25, 2022 at 6:50 p.m.

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Archibald Avenue and Pacific Electric Trail

SUSPECT(S): Party 1 - Jessica Carrillo, 19-year-old female from San Bernardino

VICTIM(S): Party 2 - Deceased Bicyclist - name withheld pending notification of next of kin


UPDATE: The driver of the 2004 Acura, Jessica Carrillo, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. She was placed under arrest for PC 191.5(a) Gross Vehicular Manslaughter, VC 23153(a) DUI causing injury, and VC 23153(b) DUI causing injury with a blood alcohol content over .08% and booked at West Valley Detention Center.


SUMMARY: On Saturday, June 25, 2022, at approximately 6:50 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Station responded to the area of Archibald Avenue and the Pacific Electric Trail crossing for a report of a collision, involving a vehicle and bicycle. Deputies and medical personnel arrived and located the cyclist in the roadway.  The cyclist suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During the investigation, deputies determined the driver of a black 2004 Acura TSX, Jessica Carrillo, was driving southbound on Archibald Avenue, north of the Pacific Electric Trail crossing. The cyclist was riding her bicycle westbound on the Pacific Electric Trail, crossing Archibald Avenue. The front of Carrillo's Acura collided with the bicyclist at the roadway crossing. Carrillo remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The Rancho Cucamonga Station's Major Accident Investigation Team assumed the investigation.
