On Tuesday, June 28th, 2022, at approximately 9:57 PM, Union City Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Whipple Rd. and A St. for a just occurred shooting.
Upon arrival, the officers determined that five victims were shot at and two were struck. The shooting victims were transported to a local hospital and are expected to survive. The two victims shot were both male juveniles (15 and 17 years old).
UCPD Detectives responded and took over this investigation.
The victims were in the area because their vehicle ran out of gas. They were attempting to push their vehicle to the nearby gas station when they were confronted by two unknown suspects. A verbal exchange occurred between the victims and suspects just prior to the shooting but the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
