Two Vehicle Motor Vehicle Crash Closes County Road

On June 29, 2022, at approximately 10:46 p.m., the Lower Township Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle crash that had just occurred on Fulling Mill Road in the Villas section of Lower Township.  Witnesses reported that one of the vehicles was overturned.  A multi-agency response was activated with assistance from the Middle Township Police Department, Villas Fire Department, Inspira Rescue, AtlantiCare Medics, and the Rio Grande Fire Department.  It was also reported that one of the occupants was entrapped in his vehicle.  Upon arrival to the crash scene Lower Township Police observed two vehicles in the middle of the roadway.  The first was a 2006 black in color Toyota Tundra pick-up truck and the second vehicle was a 2003 Toyota Corona.  Fulling Mill Road (CR654) was temporarily closed until the crash scene was deemed safe.

Investigation revealed that the 2003 Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound when it crossed the double yellow lines, while passing a vehicle, entering the eastbound lane.  The driver of the Toyota Corona, attempting to avoid a collision, veered into the west bound lane.  The Toyota Tundra also veered back into the westbound lane in attempt to avoid collision and the vehicles struck head-on.  The Toyota pick-up was lying on its side when both vehicles came to rest.  Their drivers only occupied both vehicles.

The driver of the Toyota Tundra was identified as Guy Tostevin, 72-year-old male from Villas, NJ.  He had to be removed by fire personnel due to the severity of his injuries and extensive vehicle damage.

The drivers were transported to Cape Regional Medical Center where they were further evaluated for their injuries.  Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and were subsequently towed from the scene, after fire personnel rendered them safe.
