San Leandro Police Make Arrest in Attempt Homicide: UPDATE

UPDATE:

This case has been charged by the District Attorney.  Both Philip Taylor and Ryan Taylor have been charged with attempt homicide and firearm-related charges.

On June 11th, at about 1:41 am, San Leandro Police officers responded to the report of gunshots in the Garcia Ave area at Lafayette Ave.  Residents in the area reported hearing a victim yelling in pain. Officers arrived and located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police officers immediately rendered medical aid. The victim was transported to an area hospital and survived his injuries due to the efforts of police and medical staff.

The San Leandro Police Department Crimes Against Person Unit, Crime Suppression Unit, and Crime Analyst conducted a joint investigation into the shooting, resulting in the identification of the suspects and an associated suspect vehicle.  As a result of this investigation, detectives obtained arrest and search warrants.

On June 28th, the San Leandro Police conducted arrest operations resulting in the safe apprehensions of both Ryan Taylor, a 36-year-old Oakland resident, and Philip Taylor a 33-year-old Oakland resident.

San Leandro Police were assisted by the Fremont Police Department, Oakland Police Department, and Alameda County Sheriffs’ Office.  Search warrants were conducted at residences in Oakland, San Leandro, and Fremont. As a result of the search warrants, two firearms were located.

This case will be presented to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office On June 30th.
