City of Ripon Seeking Applicants for Full Time Senior Civil Engineer Position

THE POSITION: Under general supervision of the City Engineer, the Senior Civil Engineer exercises considerable independent judgment and discretion in the supervision and preparation of engineering plans and specifications for construction and the administration of a variety of public works projects including streets, water, sewer, storm drain, city parks, and facility projects. The Senior Civil Engineer also reviews plans for construction by private developers, assuring compliance with appropriate codes, ordinances, rules and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications for this position: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field, and four years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience, including one year of supervisory responsibility. Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California is desired. Must pass a medical and drug screening, and a background check which includes being fingerprinted. Possession of a valid California driver’s license. Must live within a 35 mile radius of City Hall at the time of appointment.
BENEFITS: Health and Dental Insurance – the City provides full medical, dental and vision benefits to all full time employees and their dependents. Life insurance, long-term disability, and long-term care are also provided for full time employees. Retirement – the City participates in both Social Security and a “Money Purchase Pension Plan” with the City contributing 15%. Vacation – 10 days at 1 year of service; 15 days at 4 years; 20 days at 14 years; 25 days at 25 years. Holidays – 13 paid holidays per year (includes birthday and 3 floating days). Sick leave – 8 hours of sick leave are earned per month with unlimited accumulation.
