Detectives assigned to the Ventura County Combined Agency Team concluded an extensive investigation of Renee Zuniga and David Hernandez selling methamphetamine and fentanyl to residents of Ventura County. During the month of May 2022, VCAT detectives received information that Renee Zuniga was selling methamphetamine and fentanyl to residents of Ventura County. VCAT detectives conducted an investigation and identified David Hernandez as a co-conspirator in the illegal narcotic sales. On June 7, 2022, VCAT detectives received information that Renee Zuniga was actively attempting to provide David Hernandez with a quantity of methamphetamine in the City of Ventura. VCAT detectives coordinated with The Ventura Police Department Street Crimes / Narcotics Unit to locate David Hernandez in Ventura and successfully arrested him in possession of approximately 1 pound of methamphetamine, 18 grams of fentanyl, and 150 suspected fraudulent M30 pills that contain fentanyl. On June 8, 2022, the Ventura Police Department arrested Renee Zuniga in the City of Ventura for a parole violation. On this same date, detectives assigned to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Narcotic Street team, the Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit, and VCAT served search warrants at Zuniga’s residence located in the 200 block of Carr Drive in Ventura and his place of business located in the 2800 block of Palma Drive, Ventura. As a result of the search warrant, detectives seized approximately 3 pounds of methamphetamine, 58 grams of fentanyl, and $5,035 in United States Currency. Renee Zuniga and David Hernandez remain in custody in lieu of $500,000.00 and $100,000.00 bail respectively for narcotic sales and narcotic possession charges. The Ventura County Combined Agency Team, also known as VCAT, is comprised of detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, and Special Agents from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. VCAT is responsible for the investigation and arrest of persons and organizations who are engaged in mid to top-level drug trafficking impacting the residents and businesses of the County of Ventura. |
