On June 29, 2022, at about 5:26 p.m., Fremont Police personnel responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Driscoll Road and Carmen Street. A 71-year-old pedestrian was walking a bicycle in the bicycle lane, on the west side of Driscoll Road in a southern direction. A 71-year-old driver was driving an SUV on southbound Driscoll Road. The driver of the SUV drifted into the bicycle lane and struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was provided emergency medical attention by responding officers and medical staff. Unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the SUV was uninjured.
The Fremont Police Department Traffic Investigations Division immediately took over this collision investigation. The driver of the SUV remained on scene and is fully cooperating with this investigation with no impairment suspected. Video surveillance footage which captured this collision event was also located.
