Maple Shade Township Parade and Fireworks

The Maple Shade Police Department wishes to remind residents and those visiting this Saturday that there will be some road closures, detours and parking restrictions in the area of our events.
Please be cautious when driving in the area and give yourself plenty of time in the event of delays. Temporary NO PARKING areas will be posted in several neighborhoods and will be enforced. Temporary detours and traffic pattern changes should be expected arriving and leaving our events.
Areas that will have parking and other potential restrictions include the following:
Parade on Main St (restrictions from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM)
Main St (CR 537) between Stiles Ave and Coles Ave
Front St between Stiles Ave and N. Coles Ave
N. Coles Ave between Main St and Front St
N. Fellowship Rd between Main St and Front St
Stiles Ave between Main St and Front St
Fireworks at the Maple Shade High School (restrictions from 12:00 PM until 11:00 PM)
All neighborhoods around the high school reaching to Main St, S. Forklanding Rd, Mill Rd and Alden Park.
NOTE: Due to emergency road work on Lippincott Ave, the 300 block (between Thomas Ave and Frederick Ave) is expected to be closed to all traffic. Traffic coming to and from the Maple Shade High School for the fireworks will not be able to use this route and are encouraged to avoid the area.

SAFETY TIPS & REMINDERS:
1. Know your surroundings: look for exits when you’re in a large crowd.
2. Family and friends can get separated: take pictures at the event with your mobile phone so you have photos of how everyone is dressed.
3. Choose a place to meet in case you do get separated.
4. Report suspicious packages to police officers.
5. Dress properly – for the weather, and for the event. “When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors!”
6. Stay hydrated.
7. Decide in advance…what is the best way for you to get to and from the event.
8. Always make sure to know your surroundings. Be an observer when you arrive at the area. Be sure to look for the exits, restrooms, and the locations of medical tents or first-aid stations. If an emergency happens, head calmly to the nearest exit.
Keep Kids Safe
If you are attending an event with children, be sure to talk to them about safety before you attend the event. Always keep an eye on them, and do NOT let them wander. Remind your kids that Police Officers are there to help. If they get separated from their parents or guardians, they should find a police officer. Stress that it is important for them to stick close to you and your family, and stay away from strangers. Make sure you have a photo of them and remember what they are wearing before you leave home so that you’ll have a good description of them. Consider putting your name and phone number in your childrens’ pockets.
