The City of Valdez has prohibited the discharge of fireworks within Valdez City limits due to the ongoing dry conditions across the state, current wildfire activity around the state, and the limited resources to respond to new wildfires.
In addition, the Alaska State Fire Marshal’s Office, in cooperation with the Alaska Department of Natural Resources / Division of Forestry & Fire Protection, has implemented an immediate suspension on the use of fireworks across much of Alaska, including the Copper River Basin Area which encompasses Valdez.
