The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a
* Small Stream Flood Advisory for... Northeastern Clinton County in south central Illinois... Northern Marion County in south central Illinois... Southern Fayette County in south central Illinois...
* Until 630 AM CDT.
* At 324 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Kinmundy, Patoka, Farina, Omega, Stephen Forbes Station, Shobonier, La Clede, Pittsburg, St. Peter, Alma, Vernon, Loogootee and St. Paul. Additional rainfall up to another inch is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. This includes Interstate 57 in Illinois between exits 127 and 135.
* AFFECTED AREAS: CLINTON, IL ... FAYETTE, IL ... MARION, IL
Instructions:
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.
