Please Do Not Call 911 to Report Hearing Fireworks

Every July 4th holiday, 911 dispatch centers across the nation are inundated with calls. Many are for actual emergencies, but many are also for non emergencies such as grievances over fireworks. We understand what a nuisance fireworks are. However, non-emergency calls like these only overwhelms our 911 call center, ties up lines for life threatening emergencies, and prevents our officers from getting to actual emergency calls as fast as possible.

As 4th of July approaches, please remember not to call 911 because you are hearing fireworks. Unfortunately not everyone follows the law, so you will be hearing them. Officers will be out proactively looking for anyone violating the fireworks law.
