Advisory

The Denville 2022 4th of July Fireworks at Gardner Field

The Denville 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks will be held at Gardner Field Monday, July 4th. The festivities will begin with a concert starting at 7pm, followed by a fireworks display beginning at approximately 9pm.
As a result of the festivities, the following road closures and no parking restrictions will be in effect:
-Franklin Road (northbound, towards Gardner Field) will be closed at Route 46, with all traffic having to turn either east or west on Route 46 only
 - St. Mary's Place will be closed to all traffic when the parking lots for the Municipal Building and Riverview School are full.
-Savage Road will be closed to all traffic between Franklin Road and Morris Avenue when the parking lots at Gardner Field are full.
-The Savage Road/Franklin Road jug handle from Route 46 west will close to all traffic when pedestrian traffic becomes heavy.

These road closures will remain in effect until the amount of pedestrian traffic exiting Gardner Field after the fireworks allows for the safe movement of vehicular traffic. Anyone parked at Gardner Field, the Municipal Building Lot, or Riverview School, may be further delayed from exiting the lots due to this reason.

Please obey all temporary NO PARKING signs posted by the Denville Police Department all throughout the area of Gardner Field and Indian Lake. These will be posted in various locations to allow for the quick response of emergency equipment and personnel, if necessary. In addition, no vehicles will be permitted to stop or park on Route 46 in order to view the fireworks display. Doing so will create a traffic hazard putting both yourself and others at risk.
There will be heavy pedestrian traffic, to include young children, throughout the area’s surrounding Gardner Field leading up to and immediately following the events. As such, please take extra caution if you are driving through the area Monday night.  Pedestrians should use sidewalks, where possible and parents should take extra care to ensure small children do not run/walk into the roadway.  We want to make sure that everyone enjoys the evening and returns home safe.

The Denville Police Department will also continue their strict enforcement of illegal fireworks. Persons found using or in possession of illegal fireworks should expect to receive a summons requiring a court appearance and/or fine.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and we wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July!
