Fourth of July Marine Enforcement Operation Conducted over 200 Stops over the Weekend

INCIDENT: Fourth of July Marine Enforcement Operation 2022
LOCATION: Colorado River Station
SUMMARY: The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit conducted it's 2022 Fourth of July Marine Enforcement Operation, Friday July 1st through July 4th. The operation was conducted along the Colorado River from the California/Nevada state line to the Riverside County line, as well as Big Bear Lake and Lake Arrowhead.
Most of the operation was focused on the waterways with resorts, launch ramps and marinas along the river and lakes. A total of eleven patrol vessels, an OHV team, the Sheriff's Dive Team and two Sheriff's Department helicopters were deployed throughout the area. The Marine Enforcement unit conducted a total of 208 enforcement stops throughout the holiday weekend. There were a total of 17 arrests made for boating under the influence and 2 warrant arrests. Oscar Gutierrez, 21 years-old, Long Beach, CA. (boating under the influence)
Ty Newton, 45 years-old, Goodyear, AZ. (boating under the influence)
Pamela Mcvay, 54 years-old, Mesa, AZ. (boating under the influence)
Johvany Gomez, 34 years-old, Simi Valley, CA. (boating under the influence)
Donald Fitzgerald, 41 years-old, Yucca, AZ. (boating under the influence)
Edgar Padilla, 35 years-old, Rialto, CA (boating under the influence)
Efrain Baldenebro, 36 years-old, Long Beach, CA. (boating under the influence)
Robert Lundin, 44 years-old, Lancaster, CA (warrant arrest)
Gavin Singleton, 23 years-old, Canyon Country, CA (boating under the influence)
Jorge Permouthdeleon, 34 years-old, Cathedral City, CA (boating under the influence)
Jose Becerra, 33 years-old, Fontana, CA. (boating under the influence)
Ricardo Enriquez, 35 years-old, Chino, CA. (warrant arrest)
Hugo Razo, 42 years-old, Bloomington, CA. (boating under the influence)
Richard Lopez, 41 years-old, Huntington Beach, CA. (boating under the influence)
Carlos Gastelumgastelum, 24 years-old, Cathedral City, CA. (boating under the influence)
Samantha Zylak, 21 years-old, Oceanside, CA. (boating under the influence)
Michael Durant, 44 years-old, Santa Margarita, CA (boating under the influence)
Todd Keizer, 53 years-old, South Salt Lake, UT. (boating under the influence)
Approximately 87 citations were issued for various boating law violations as well as 121 verbal warnings. The Marine Enforcement Unit investigated a major injury boat accident on the Colorado River near Roadrunner Bar. A victim from the accident was flown by Sheriff’s Air Rescue Helicopter to a Phoenix trauma center where he remains in stable condition.
The Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit urges all California residents to go online to www.californiaboatercard.com and take the online test to obtain their boater card which is now required by law. The Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit is, as always, dedicated to providing a safe boating atmosphere for the public and reminds everyone to wear their life jackets and to boat sober.
