Weapons Investigation Leads to Arrest
On Sunday, July 3rd, 2022, at approximately, 6:00 P.M., members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division, were assigned to a foot patrol in the area of 3200 Block of the Wildwood Boardwalk, due to the excessive volume of holiday pedestrian traffic. While there they were approached by four juvenile subjects, reporting they were involved in a verbal altercation with two separate individuals, one of which brandished a small framed, semi-automatic handgun.
As the field contact continued, the juveniles identified the location of the incident as the vicinity of the 3500 block of the Wildwood Boardwalk. Additionally provided were the physical and clothing descriptions of the individuals involved in the incident. During the continuing investigation conducted by the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, video surveillance of the incident was obtained which collaborated the information provided by involved parties.
During the continuing investigation, three individuals, two juveniles and one adult identified as Elizabeth Mademann, 36-year-old, employed electrician, currently residing in Hamilton, N.J., were detained in connection to the investigation. During the inquiry, information was developed specific to a nexus confirming the two juveniles detained as being the involved parties in the aggravated assault investigation, specific to the handgun. During the physical search, a Jimenez Arms Inc. Semi-automatic .22 Cal. Pistol was recovered along with five rounds of ammunition in the magazine. Further investigation revealed that the pistol was reported as a stolen firearm, from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 2014.
As a result of the investigation, the following criminal charges were file against the individuals identified as having active involvement in the criminal activity.
Juvenile No. 1 unlawful possession of a firearm (a crime of the second degree), possession of a weapon firearm for an unlawful purpose (a crime of the second degree), aggravated assault (a crime of the fourth degree), receiving stolen property “firearm” (a crime of the third degree).
Juvenile No. 2 unlawful possession of a firearm (a crime of the second degree). Receiving stolen property “firearm” (a crime of the third degree).
Elizabeth Mademann, unlawful possession of a firearm (a crime of the second degree).
As a result of the issuance of the criminal charges against Elizabeth Mademann, and the juvenile defendants, they were released on criminal summons complaints, in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines, promulgated in connection with the Criminal Justice Bail Reform Policies and Directives. The defendants were charged after a finding of probable cause in connection to the investigation and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
