Two Suspects Taken Into Custody for Child Endangerment After Deputies Respond to Local Motel
DATE/TIME: July 6, 2022, at approximately 2:58 a.m.
INCIDENT: PC 273A(A) - Child Endangerment
LOCATION: 1400 Block of J Street, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Daryl Ballard, 30-years-old, Resident of Bakersfield, CA
Jennifer Ballard, 29-years-old, Resident of Bakerfield, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at approximately 2:58 a.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department responded to Motel 6 for a call for service. When deputies arrived, they found Daryl Ballard in the parking lot acting erratically.
Through investigation, Daryl Ballard and Jennifer Ballard were both found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of suspected narcotics. Deputies observed drug paraphernalia throughout their hotel room, accessible to their three children present in the room.
Both Daryl and Jennifer Ballard were placed under arrest for PC 273A(A) - Child Endangerment and were transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Daryl and Jennifer Ballard remain in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $100,000.00, awaiting a court hearing. Their three children were placed into the care of Children and Family Services.
