Traffic stop leads to arrest for illegal possession of a handgun
On 7/6/22 at approximately 6:10 PM, an Officer from the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) conducted a traffic stop in the area of Jennings Avenue and North Dutton Avenue for a vehicle code violation.
The Officer contacted the occupants of the vehicle. While the Officer was talking with the occupants, another Officer saw what appeared to be a firearm in the vehicle. At that point the Officer had the occupants exit the vehicle.
The passenger, 22-year-old Santa Rosa resident Daniel Guerrero-Barragan, admitted there was a firearm in the vehicle. Guerrero-Barragan was on a grant of probation where he was subject to warrantless search and seizure.
The Officer searched the vehicle and located a privately made handgun (commonly referred to as a “ghost gun”). The handgun was loaded with a high-capacity magazine which contained 16 9mm rounds.
Guerrero-Barragan was arrested and booked at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for the listed charges:
25850(c)(6) PC: Possession of a loaded firearm not by the registered owner (Felony)
25400(a)(1) PC: Carry a concealed weapon in a vehicle (Felony)
1203.2(a) PC: Violation of probation (Misdemeanor)
