DATE OF RELEASE: Thursday, July 7, 2022
On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at approximately 6:24 pm, the victim, a 71-year-old male and resident of Avocado Heights, and the suspect, Walter Madrid, were involved in a possible road rage incident in the area of Sunset Avenue and Plaza Drive. The incident ended in the area of Evanwood Avenue and Merced Avenue when both parties confronted each other. Ultimately, the suspect battered the victim, resulting in the victim becoming unconscious. The victim was transported to a local hospital and as of July 7, 2022, he is in critical condition.
Detectives are continuing to investigate this incident and are seeking witnesses who could provide further information regarding the battery and events leading up to the incident. The suspect, 29 year-old Walter Madrid, a resident of La Puente, was arrested and booked for battery/aggravated assault with a bail amount of $30,000. The identity of the victim will not be released.
