Narrative:
On July 5, 2022, Sheriff’s Gang Unit detectives arrested (S) John Gonzalez, after a brief foot pursuit in the City of Fillmore, for multiple outstanding arrest warrants and other violations stemming from a stolen vehicle investigation.   
 
On July 5, 2022, at approximately 1800 hours, SGU detectives conducted directed enforcement in the City of Fillmore and learned that an elderly victim’s vehicle was stolen from a residential garage in the 300 block of Del Valle Drive.  At approximately 1930 hours, SGU detectives located the stolen vehicle parked, unoccupied, in the 200 block of Sierra Vista Avenue.  At approximately 2129 hours, SGU detectives observed (S) John Gonzalez enter the stolen vehicle before he fled on foot towards the 1100 block of El Paseo Street. After a short foot pursuit, detectives located and arrested Gonzalez in front of a gas station in the 1100 block of W. Ventura Street.  Gonzalez was arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for multiple warrants, burglary, stolen vehicle, elder abuse, vehicle tampering, and resisting violations.      
 
On July 7, 2022, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple felony and misdemeanor charges against Gonzalez for the case and he remains in Ventura County Jail custody pending upcoming court dates.                     
 
The Sheriff’s Gang Unit is comprised of eight detectives, who focus on protecting West County communities from criminal street gang terrorism, reducing violent crime, and supporting the Sheriff’s Office West County Patrol Stations.
