Calling all car enthusiasts! The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Ventura County Fire Department, in collaboration with Rusnak Westlake Porsche, are hosting a road rally to raise money for first responder charities on August 7, 2022. Rusnak has a specially wrapped 2022 Porsche 911 that will lead the rally, which will begin at Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village and end at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Simi Valley, where participants will enjoy a gourmet lunch and a special event featuring emergency vehicles. Proceeds from the event will benefit the all-volunteer Ventura County Sheriff’s East County Search and Rescue Team and the Ventura County Fire Department’s Widows & Orphans Fund. This is the second Helus Rally, which has been named after Sergeant Ron Helus, who was the first peace officer on scene at the mass shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks in 2018. Ron was tragically killed during a shootout with the suspect, who had already killed 11 people inside the bar. Ron’s heroic actions that night have had a lasting impact on the community he humbly served for 29 years. The Porsche “Hero 911” is a fitting tribute to his legacy. Details about the event and how to sign up are available at www.helusrally.com. |
