Tonight, Bay Area Cruise Night has advertised a car cruise along S. El Camino Real from 3rd Ave. to Hillsdale Mall. This cruise will begin at 7pm and last until at least 9pm. Vehicles will be "cruising" El Camino and doing laps back and forth this 2 mile stretch. This event (not city sanctioned) has occurred annually and does not usually create any issues other than traffic congestion in this area.

SMPD will be out in force tonight, and has additional resources at our disposal to ensure all traffic laws are obeyed and public safety remains our top priority. 

Several local businesses have supported this "cruise", therefore, you may notice several areas where cars will gather along the route, mostly in parking lots. 

The organizers of this event are well aware of our presence and ensure us there will be no sideshows, drag races, or reckless driving. It is meant to be a reminiscent of the cruising days of the past, when people would cruise El Camino for fun on a weekend night. 

If you have a timely event to attend and will be using El Camino as your path traveled, you may want to use side streets, alternate routes, or leave earlier in the event this car cruise impacts your evening.
